This mobile-friendly e-learning module was designed to demonstrate my end-to-end instructional design process, from initial analysis through development and evaluation. My goal was to create a learning experience that is engaging, accessible, and optimized for learners using both desktop and mobile devices.
The project began by identifying the learning need and defining measurable learning objectives. I determined the key performance outcomes learners needed to achieve and organized the content into logical learning sections using microlearning principles to reduce cognitive load.
Using adult learning principles and evidence-based instructional design practices, I created a learner-centered experience that focused on:
Clear, measurable learning objectives
Chunked content for easier retention
Realistic healthcare scenarios
Knowledge checks with immediate feedback
Mobile-first navigation to accommodate learners on any device
Artificial intelligence served as a collaborative design partner throughout the project, accelerating development while allowing me to focus on instructional strategy and quality.
AI was used to help:
Brainstorm instructional approaches and activity ideas
Refine learning objectives
Draft concise narration scripts
Create scenario-based Check for Understanding questions
Generate corrective feedback for incorrect responses
Improve clarity, readability, and consistency of instructional content
Review content for grammar, tone, and instructional flow
Every AI-generated draft was carefully reviewed, edited, and validated by me to ensure the content was accurate, instructionally sound, and aligned with the learning objectives.
Before development, I mapped the learner journey and organized each screen into a storyboard. This included:
Screen sequence
Visual layout
Audio narration
Learner interactions
Knowledge checks
Feedback messaging
Resource placement
This planning phase ensured a smooth learner experience before any development began.
The interface was intentionally designed to be clean, modern, and accessible. I selected a limited color palette, high-contrast typography, and consistent spacing to improve readability across devices.
Design decisions prioritized:
Touch-friendly navigation
Minimal scrolling
Consistent visual hierarchy
Accessibility considerations
Reduced cognitive load
The module was developed in Articulate Storyline.
Interactive components included:
Scenario-based learning
Multiple-choice knowledge checks
Immediate feedback
Structured content blocks optimized for mobile learning
Before finalizing the course, I completed multiple rounds of testing to verify:
Navigation functionality
Mobile responsiveness
Instructional accuracy
Grammar and spelling
Accessibility
Consistency across all lesson pages
Learner feedback and branching behavior
Any issues identified during testing were corrected prior to publishing.
The completed module demonstrates my ability to combine instructional design expertise with modern AI tools to streamline development while maintaining instructional quality. Rather than replacing the design process, AI enhanced efficiency by supporting brainstorming, drafting, and refinement, allowing me to devote more time to learning strategy, user experience, and quality assurance.
This project reflects my approach to instructional design: leveraging technology thoughtfully, applying sound learning principles, and creating engaging, performance-focused learning experiences that meet the needs of today's learners.
